Location data
WeatherSpot never stores your exact GPS coordinates. When you share a location, it is immediately snapped to an Uber H3 Resolution 6 hexagonal cell (~3.2km edge-to-edge). Only the hex cell identifier is stored — your precise location cannot be reconstructed from it.
Telegram users
We store your Telegram chat ID (a numeric identifier assigned by Telegram), your tier and subscription status, your H3 home cell and favourite cells (hex identifiers only), and your preference settings (units, map theme, brief enabled). No name, username, or contact information from Telegram is stored beyond what you explicitly provide as a location label.
API users
We store your email address, a hashed API key (the plain-text key is shown only once at creation and is never recoverable), your tier, and per-request analytics logs (H3 cell, cache hit/miss, latency). Logs are retained for 90 days for billing and debugging purposes.
Third-party services
WeatherSpot sends coordinate data to Open-Meteo (no API key, GDPR-compliant), OpenWeatherMap (weather alerts only), and Google AI Studio (Gemini — coordinates are included in the prompt for geographic context). No personally identifiable information is sent to any third-party service.
Data deletion
Telegram bot users can delete all stored data at any time by sending the /deletedata command. This immediately wipes your user row, all favourites, delivery schedules, and history. API users can contact us at mike@spotiottechnologies.com for account deletion.
